On 28.01.2022 Balkantel donated for the needs of the STEM Center “Progress” at St. St. Cyril and Methodius” in the town of Nedelino – multifunctional 3D printer and supplies. The printer enables 3D printing, laser engraving, carving and cutting.

What is the STEM Center “Progress”?

The STEM Center “Progress” is a new state-of-the-art place that transforms the school into an innovative and communicative hub for young people. The center’s state-of-the-art school environment, stimulates creativity, innovation and individual talents with a focus on science, engineering, math and technology (STEM).

The center is located on the second floor of the building of the “St. St. Cyril and Methodius” High School in Nedelino. It covers an area of 330 square meters, with a work area and a designated space for communication and relaxation. The equipment and furniture (sensors for data recording /temperature, Ph, illumination, speed and acceleration, etc./, microscopes with camera, 360 degree camera, Chromebook devices for 1:1 model work, virtual and augmented reality, visualization screens, programmable Makey Makey controllers, programmable LEGO robots, sound system, etc.) are multifunctional and allow flexible work scenarios.

Digital technologies are present on two levels – as specialized equipment that secures in depth and comprehensiveness both the experiments and the practical work.

The environment and the learning process are oriented towards stimulating students’ participation through: counselling, participation in tasks (team learning), project development (learning by doing), discussions, conversations, situations and simulations, experiments, research work, etc. Free use of sources, access to digital technologies and free communication “among equals” enable students to develop their potential and build themselves as independent, cooperative and confident individuals.
